with a whimper or a bang?

Woke up thinking about trusses. But didn't want to do that just yet so I did this instead. Mainly 'coz I want to do some typography and this is my 1st one ever. I wonder if I look back at this a couple years from now, will I think it's any good? At present I think it's fair. Pencil brushes worked out alright. I need to practice some more - set up my tablet properly.

I am about to go into the truss design for Coolrunnings - now that I've satisfied my need to create something new.

A- list concierge are about to make up their minds on which logo they are going to go with. Here is the thing I did for them and a lil change to the last oen. More corporate feel - I have to admit - it was a tough one 'coz I needed to bring some bling into it. but I nailed it at the end. I'm happy. But that doesn't matter much - 'coz if the client thinks something needs to be changed - it needs to be changed.
This is new - but I think I should not settle - I should make a new one every time. Depending on how I'm feeling.
the fonts I liked - not all necessarily to do with the task at hand - but I was looking for the right font and since I downloaded 9000 more fonts it's going to be fun going through all of them looking for the shapes that make sense. during this search I only had 1000 or so to go through.
I had initially added font to this - saying black in black, then silver and platinum. I should have done more to make it look like silver and platinum here as well. then export to corel to publish. But corel is being gay... I should try indesign or illustrator. I'm sure I can win there too.

Well here - I was exploring the idea of doing it all in black. But I can't remember/figure out how to make it look the way I wanted so I just had to make notes. I need to find a tutorial that shows me how to make things look like they have been engraved into something. I should ask one of the many people who are better than me at this. Dee!! I owe her some QT as well.

small font for (LIST)

a failed attempt at trying some other A inspired logo. But an idea non the less.

I like this one - 'coz when I made it - it just happened. No thinking - just worked out and it happened fast ( I think).
The reason I'm posting this stuff now - is 'coz they wanted to see this last one in capital letters - and here it is. I should find out how people charge for tweaking - making ammendments to something. But that premise doesn't work in my mind - 'coz someone is paying for a product - so they should recieve what they are paying for - not some watered down version right? How much to charge? Me - no - likey the BS that I go through when I have to figure out how much to charge!

I don't like this one at first but it looks good against the black background which is the whole idea of the website and the rest of the company stationary. I'm not sure how we are going to go around that one for the letterhead - but I'm sure I'll figure something out.
Seeing these against the black background has made me realise that I didn't approach the presentation in the right way. I should have made it completely black background, 'coz that is how it's going to be in the end. I'm learning. YAY!
